Practicing self care for stress relief is very important because psychodermatology experts as well as numerous studies have shown that stress worsens many skin conditions. For example, this study and this study found that stress worsens acne. This study found that stress may affect atopic dermatitis, perioral dermatitis, pompholyx and psoriasis. This study found that stressed persons had more hair loss, scalp flakes, dry rashes, pimples, itchy skin, scaly skin, warts and troublesome sweating.
Aromatherapy Self Care for Stress Relief
Using aromatherapy oils for stress relief is one of my favorite self care practices because studies have proven their effectiveness in stress management. For example this study found that lavender essential oil reduced stress levels while this study that it made participants feel more relaxed.

Bath Salts Recipe
Ingredients
50 drops lavender essential oil (aids relaxation)
1/4 teaspoon natural food coloring (optional)
Instructions
Mix all the ingredients in a container with an air tight lid.
Equipment
How to Use
Add one handful of the bath salts to a bath tub filled with warm water and soak in it for at least 15 minutes. You can use the bath scrunchie to gently massage the relaxing bath waters onto your body.
Bath Bombs Recipe
Ingredients
50 drops lavender essential oil
1 teaspoon water

Instructions
Mix the baking soda, citric acid, corn flour and essential oil in a bowl.
Add the water drop by drop until the mixture becomes sticky but not wet.
Press the mixture into the bath bomb molds.
Let the bath bombs dry overnight before removing them from the molds.
Store then in an air tight container.
How to Use
Drop 1 bath bomb in a tub filled with warm water and inhale the relaxing aroma as it fizzes.
Solid Lotion Recipe
Ingredients
60 drops lavender essential oil
Equipment
Instructions
Place the beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil in the double boiler and heat them until they melt.
After they have melted, remove them from the double boiler, stir to mix them and wait for 5 minutes for them to cool.
Once they cool, add the essential oil, stir to mix and pour the mixture into a silicone mold.
Put the mold in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Remove the mold from the freezer and remove the solid lotion from the mold.
Store the solid lotion in an air tight container
How to Use
Rub the solid lotion between your hands to soften it and then apply it on your body as a moisturizer.

Body Scrub Recipe
Ingredients
25 drops lavender essential oil (aids relaxation)
25 drops sweet orange essential oil (relieves stress and reduces cellulite)
1 cup (8 oz or 250 ml) sweet almond oil or any other vegetable oil
1/3 cup brown sugar or white sugar

Mix all the ingredients in a jar with a wide mouth.
How to Use
Scoop a handful and massage it on your body to remove the dead skin cells. Begin on your feet and work your way up towards your heart. When you get to areas with cellulite, use the cellulite massager. Rinse off with warm water.
Foot Soak Recipe
Ingredients
25 drops lavender essential oil (aids relaxation)
25 drops peppermint essential oil (deodorizes the feet)

Mix all the ingredients in a container with an air tight lid.
How to Use
Add one handful of the foot soak to a bowl filled with warm water and soak your feet in it for at least 15 minutes. You can then proceed to do a pedicure by using the nail brush, pumice stone and toe separators.

Face Mask Recipe
Ingredients
2 drops lavender essential oil

Face brush with natural bristles
Instructions
Mix all the ingredients in a small porcelain bowl with a wooden spoon until they form a smooth paste.
How to Use
Gently brush your face to exfoliate it. Apply the paste to your face while sparing the eye area. Wait for 15 minutes for it to set. Rinse off with warm water and apply a moisturizer preferably one with lavender to complete your self care for stress relief session.

Face Serum Recipe
Ingredients
3 drops lavender essential oil
3 drops tea tree essential oil
Instructions
Mix all the ingredients in a dropper bottle.
How to Use
Roll the bottle in your hands to mix the contents and apply 3 drops of the mixture onto your cleansed face. Massage them in with your fingertips and give the skin some minutes to absorb it before applying a moisturizer.
